Eight schools in the West Herzegovina County have received 8 projectors and 8 tablets which will facilitate access to online teaching for students in the West Herzegovina County. The equipment worth 7.600 EUR is provided by the European Union under the project contributing to raising awareness among young people on the proper disposal of waste and environmental protection. Due to the new circumstances with the COVID 19 and introduction of online classes, the equipment will help students to better follow the online school. The donation was handed over on 29th May 2020 in Široki Brijeg to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Ružica Mikulić said:
“Thank you for the valuable donation that will be used for the benefit of our students and the educational process that due to the COVID 19 pandemic had to be transformed from direct learning to distance learning. Eko ZH once again shows that this is a serious association that recognizes the need of society at all times and acts accordingly and acts concretely and actively not only in terms of raising environmental awareness but also in terms of overall social responsibility, Which was also recognized by the European Union delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina”
The EU funded project “Y O U t h d r i v e” will contribute to the proper management of waste, and activities will be focused on the protection of waterways in the targeted areas. In cooperation with schools, the project will primarily address the awareness of young people, who through their knowledge and actions in the future, should influence and act on raising public awareness on the environment protection. Also, the project will create a basis for improvement and refinement of existing legislation in this area. The project “Y O U t h d r i v e – Program for raising awareness on proper waste management and empowering legislators for taking action ” is implemented within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro, funded by the European Union with over 232.000 EUR. The project partners are non-governmental organizations, the Association for Development, Environment and Culture EKO ZH from Široki Brijeg as the project holder, and Our Action, a non-governmental organization from Montenegro, based in Kotor.
The realization of the project will take place in the period from 15.11.2019. to 15.05.2021, while the total value of the project is 279,200 EUR.
