European Union supported Digital Nomads Residency Program Launches in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro this Spring

With financial support from the European Union, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will host digital nomads from around the world this spring. Participants will spend one month living and working in rural areas of the two countries, promoting them as attractive destinations for remote work and sustainable tourism.

The Residency Program, organized within the framework of the STAR project, will take place from April 15 to May 15, 2026. The program aims to promote tourism and attract digital nomads to rural cross-border areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Selected participants will spend a month following a carefully designed route through both countries, primarily staying in smaller towns and rural destinations. A month of travel, accommodation and meals provided, combined with the opportunity to work remotely and experience authentic local stories, may sound unreal — but that is exactly what the STAR Residency Program offers.

However, this is not a typical “vacation.” The itinerary is intensive and dynamic, involving frequent travel and stays in multiple destinations. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the program includes Ravno (Vjetrenica), Stolac, Čapljina (Hutovo Blato), Ljubuški, Mostar, and Grude. In Montenegro, participants will stay in Podgorica, Mojkovac, Kolašin, Šavnik, Žabljak, Plužine, Nikšić, Herceg Novi, and Kotor.

How are participants selected? The key criteria include the reach and quality of their social media communities, as well as their activity and presence within the digital nomad ecosystem (platforms, events, and communities).

Participants are expected to make a concrete contribution to promoting the region as an attractive destination for digital nomads.

Applications will be open until March 11, 2026.

The application form is at the link, and all the details can be found here.

The STAR project is financed by the European Union through the IPA III CBC Program Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021 – 2027.
