The project P.O.W.E.R: Creating New Opportunities for Work, Employment and Professional Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities has initiated, with funding of the European Union, through the IPA II CBC Program between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The project was launched at info sessions that were organized on March 13th and 15th in Mostar and Sarajevo respectively and on 16th March 2018 in Berane. Project Manager, Zlatko Malić from Caritas BiH, emphasized that through this project partner organizations are aiming to contribute to creating a better environment for people with disabilities, especially in the fields of education, employment and public awareness.
Info sessions were followed by work in small groups, where representatives of partner organizations, together with participants from public institutions, associations of people with disabilities and NGOs, exchanged experiences and presented concrete suggestions for quality implementation of project activities. Emphasis has been put on the development of new, professional curricula for the education of people with disabilities: through the project, four new curricula will be developed for training of adults with disabilities, as well as four curricula for informal training, which will strengthen the professional competencies of people with disabilities. The project envisages the creation of an interactive website, which will contain all relevant information regarding employment of people with disabilities. Furthermore, the participants exchanged ideas on the planned trade fair for the employment of people with disabilities, internship opportunities in companies and organizations, and also about the interventions that need to be implemented through the public system in order to facilitate and accelerate the employment process in the cross-border area.

The total value of the project is 459,776 euros, of which the European Union finances 390,800 euros, while Caritas Italiana provides the co-financing.
