The famous Trebinje boat – a part the innovative tourist offer in BiH

Ten traditional Trebinje boats were presented today on the Trebišnjica River, thus expanding the range of Trebinje tourist offer, which is already significant. The tradition of boat races between the two bridges, held until the middle of the last century has been symbolically brought back to life by the race where 5 of these boats took part.

The revitalization of the old dock and the making of ten Trebinje boats are both part of the European Union funded project, whose goal is to present rich cultural and historical resources from the standpoint that has been forgotten these days or utterly unknown, and the famous Trebinje boat will have the role of showing Trebinje from A completely new perspective, the river.

In the middle of the last century, there were around thirty boats of this kind, which represented a unique attraction of that time. This innovative and exclusive offer has been enabled by combining various tourist options.  By using the Trebišnjica River as a corridor for these boats, tourists together with the Trebinje residents will be able to “consume” nature, culture and history and also, they can enjoy at the “outdoor” wellness by rowing.

Along with the revitalization of the old dock, which used to be a place for tying these boats, and the part of the city walls, respective street lights have been installed in this location as well as “the smart bench”

Similar activity has been conducted in Nikšić, Montenegro, where ten traditional boats on the Zeta River have been made within the same project. Accordingly, the project will contribute to improvement of the joint tourist offer in project areas.
